Physiotherapy

istockphoto-1311098289-612x612.jpg

Physiotherapy uses techniques to help restore movement and function to anyone affected by an injury, disability or health condition. It is a therapy that can help you achieve movement for life.

A physiotherapist will use their in-depth knowledge of how the body works, combined with hands-on clinical skills, to assess, diagnose and treat your symptoms. They can even help you prevent many injuries and health conditions.

Our Experienced & Highly Qualified Physios

In NZ, all Physiotherapists hold a four-year university degree in Physiotherapy. At Kowhai Physio, our Physios also hold Post-Graduate Degrees in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy/Manual therapy, and/or have further Specialised Qualifications.

All Physios who work in New Zealand need to be registered and gain an Annual Practicing Certificate with the Physiotherapy Board of New Zealand; the Board makes sure that they are qualified, competent and that their skills are updated frequently. Our Kowhai Physios all partake in twice-monthly ongoing education sessions, and frequently up-skill at courses and conferences.

At Kowhai Physio we provide:

  • ACC-accredited treatment

  • Sport injury management

  • Care for long term musculoskeletal conditions

  • Gym-based rehabilitation

  • Manual and manipulative therapy

  • Acupuncture

  • Back and neck care

  • Injury prevention and conditioning programs

  • Pain management and persistent pain treatment

  • Pre- and Post-operative rehabilitation

  • Pilates-based core-strength one on one sessions and home programmes

  • Osteoarthritis education and management programmes

  • Strapping and bracing

  • ACC-funded ‘Stay at Work’ programs

  • ACC-funded ‘Training for Independence’ programme

  • Pelvic Health assessment and treatment

We also work closely with other health disciplines including GPs, Surgeons, Occupational Therapists, Health Psychologists and Personal Trainers. We can refer you on to these providers as required.

You do not need a GP referral to attend Physiotherapy and we are able to lodge ACC claims.

Warkworth Locals

We are locals too! We all live and play in the Warkworth/Matakana Coast area. Kowhai Physio has been supporting the local community for over 20 years. Over many years, our Physios have been involved in Mahurangi College Sport, a variety of local Club sports, North Harbour representative teams, and supporting our local athletes to National competitions.

We have small-town values. We aim to treat each patient with excellent service, and getting excellent results for you. You will never feel like ‘just a number’ at our clinic.

Annually, we provide the Kowhai Physio Scholarship to a graduating Mahurangi College student going on to a career in Health Science. We also fund the Physio Netball award to a player at Mahurangi College who displays excellent tenacity, work ethic and team spirit.

Telehealth Video/Phone Consulting

After two years of Lockdowns, our staff are well-versed in phone and video-based Telehealth consulting. Other than hands-on therapy, our ‘Injury diagnosis & treatment’ process is exactly the same.

You may prefer to choose this type of consult if you have concerns about covid, or if you live rural or remotely.

We have experienced that accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans can be established via Telehealth. Our software is encrypted for security. We will email your exercise programmes to you. We are also able to order x-rays and ultrasound scans, refer to Specialists/Surgeons, and provide contactless delivery of crutches, knee braces, moonboots, strengthening band, and other equipment that can be funded through ACC.
